Each one, as a good manager of God’s different gifts, must use for the good of others the special gift he has received from God.

This always bothered me…what if I don’t understand what gift(s) God gave me? In my heart, though, I always knew that the time will come that I’ll just know…it did. It took 45 years, but it happened. My gift is serving…something I’ve done my whole life, but never realized was, in fact, a gift from God. I thought everyone is like me; that giving is part of the human condition. Then I went through a stage where I began to see I was SO wrong…people are takers and users by nature, not givers. They will drain those who give until the last drop of kindness has been used up, then they’ll sit back and demand more, more, more. Now I’m grateful to know that God intended me to give, I understand the calling finally. I just hope I don’t disappoint. Sent via my BlackBerry from Vodacom – let your email find you!

20 Above all else, however, remember that no one can explain by himself or herself a prophecy in the Scriptures.
21 For no prophetic message ever came just from human will, but people were under the control of the Holy Spirit as they spoke the message that came from God. http://bible.us/2Pet1.20.GNTUK-EN

So much for those amongst us who dare to ‘explain’ scripture. I’ve always found it fascinating, you know, the way people try to pull apart the meaning of words in the Bible; and then becoming seriously upset when you dare to disagree with their interpretations.
My opinion is this; God uses His Word as a tool to communicate with His children. Each of those children are unique, with their own ideas, morals, perceptions and character. As with any group, the message needs to be appropriately understandable for the receiver and each person will receive the words in a different manner; perceiving the ‘hidden’ meaning in different ways. Each one will get out of this message what he needs to hear.
When I read the Bible, for instance, I interpret certain texts in some way or another; receiving a message meant just for me. These words will mean something entirely different to someone else, giving him another message; one that he can use in his life. In my view, this is how God deals with us. The Bible is always meaningful, but the meaning is different for each individual.
Many people will disagree, of course they will….some even wrote books explaining what the Bible really means to say. They are welcome to their ideas, as long as they allow me to come to my own conclusions!
The scripture above hints toward this same thesis …the Holy Spirit opens your eyes to see the message clearly. You cannot claim to know anything, unless you allow the Spirit to lead you. Trust me, the Word meant for you will come if you allow this. Sent via my BlackBerry from Vodacom – let your email find you!

Good Managers of God’s Gifts

7 The end of all things is near. You must be self-controlled and alert, to be able to pray.
8 Above everything, love one another earnestly, because love covers over many sins. 9 Open your homes to each other without complaining.
10 Each one, as a good manager of God’s different gifts, must use for the good of others the special gift he has received from God.
11 Whoever preaches must preach God’s messages; whoever serves must serve with the strength that God gives, so that in all things praise may be given to God through Jesus Christ, to whom belong glory and power for ever and ever. Amen.
