The Hobbit: The desolation of Smaug – trailer

The 2nd in the LOTR prequel trilogy to be released in December. This is quite a spectacular trailer. Can’t wait for it, though. Think I’ll pre-order Blu-ray in like….tomorrow!!!! Be on the look out for Legolas, all blonde and absolutely breathtaking…he makes a surprise appearance as his presence veers a bit off the original storyline in Tolkien’s book. No matter though…all the more eye-candy for us older gals (who uses our age to explain the glimmer of drool on our chins!).

Holiday June 2013

Well, what a holiday!! I never expected us to still be down South, on the coast….  While its been fun, there has been a few very bad moments that brought this ‘extended’ vacation upon my family. We were supposed to return home last Saturday and the two boys (that is Tristan and Daddy-o) decided to do some renovations on brother’s holiday home. They painted the entire place, fixed the roof and did some other work and I thought: ‘Oh, goody! I’ll pack on Friday and Saturday its bye-bye house and on the road home.’ Hahaha….what a joke. Friday afternoon my dear ol’ husband decided it might be a good (no, strike that, a BRILLIANT) idea to seal the porch roof around the barbeque. What a mistake….the roof sagged down and gave completely away under his weight, dropping him on solid cement and tile down below. He lost consciousness for a bit…it freaked Tyla out completely (shame, she went into hysterics and didn’t stop screaming for nearly 15 minutes afterwards). Fortunately he could move his arms and legs so I bundled him inside the car and screeched out of the resort to the nearest emergency room where they discovered he had concussion, a soft tissue injury in the neck and a broken vertebrae. He ended up spending the night in hospital and me trying to calm three very upset kids. I just thank God that he’s allright….it could have been much worse.

Anyhow, so the doctors told us to stay close to the hospital in case something happens, which brings me to our impromptu extension of our winter holiday by the sea. Riaan is much better now and even took to walking down to the beach yesterday. We did have a good giggle when even the geriatric older ones passed him on the way back….mooching forward with their walking frames. Of course, he did NOT join our hilarious laughter (perhaps ours is the result of delayed shock…I dunno..)

The kids are NOT having so much fun anymore…Tyla tried swimming a few times, but seeing that both 007 and David Hasselhoff were absent to review her numerous attempts, she gave up the Halle Berry/Pamela Anderson act quicker than you can say freezeyourassoff. I had time to finish reading those books I bought last week (still about 4 left, but I’ll get to them in time) and Riaan really got down to resting properly for a change.

So, people, that’s the deal with the Hattingh family at the moment. Hopefully we’ll be safely on our way home come Saturday (that is, if  Riaan doesn’t try doing his own stunts again). There’s so much to do…..photographs for Santa Shoebox, Forever Angel’s gholf day in August, intervention for pregnant teens with 2nd Chanz Foundation AND my Dad’s estate to be settled; oh, and then there’s Tristan’s science fair on the 22nd, plus his birthday party on the 20th AND I have to clean the house properly for a change as well. ……gosh, I think I’ll rather stay here!!!

I’m signing off for now. Sorry I’ve been so ‘absent’ over the past 6 weeks, but after Dad’s death I just didn’t feel up to anything. It would seem, though, that I’m really back now.  A good thing, don’t you agree?

Keep well, dear reader and God bless! Until we meet again….
