Here is your word for today:

Verse:       Psalm 138:7 (A Psalm of David)

‘Though I walk in the midst of trouble,You preserve my life. You stretch out Your hand against the anger of my foes; with Your right hand You save me.’

– David ‘walked in the midst of trouble’ for most of his life.
– But the Lord preserved his life.
– He will do the same thing for you.
– He stretches out His hand against the anger of your foes.

PRAYER: Lord, You truly are the preserver of my life. I take hold of Your saving, right hand now and I walk with boldness and confidence. Amen.

Here is your word for today:

Verse:       Isaiah 26:4

‘Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord Himself, is the Rock eternal.’

– Trusting God should be the logical thing to do.
– When we trust Him, we are trusting that which is eternal.
– Let Him be the everlasting rock of your life.
– He is the rock that cannot be moved and will not be shaken.

PRAYER: Lord, who else can we turn to but You oh Lord? You are the Rock and apart from You there is no other. Amen.

Reflections: “Here I am, Lord. Send Me!”

Then I heard the Lord asking, ‘Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?’ I said, ‘Here I am. Send me.’” (Isaiah 6:8 NLT)

“Are you available?”

We need to ask ourselves this question. Often, we don’t want to accept responsibility to do things others ask of us.

This was also true in Bible times. Moses didn’t want to go to Egypt to be the spokesman for leading the people out of their Egyptian captivity. He offered all kinds of excuses.

Gideon questioned why God would choose him, when he came from such a poor tribe, to head up the means for freeing his people from their oppressors.

Jonah ran away from the responsibility God called him to.

When it was time to anoint Saul king, they found him hiding in the baggage!

God is looking for available people to do his work. Jesus said the harvest was full, but the laborers are few. When it comes to investing our time, talent, and treasure for a life that will echo into eternity, we need to ask ourselves, “Am I available?”

When Isaiah heard that question, he volunteered to be God’s messenger. Will you volunteer?

Today, ask yourself:
Am I passing up opportunities God is giving me to serve him? Am I missing opportunities to put my time, talent, and treasure “in play” for the advancement of the Kingdom?

Sometimes I’m astounded by the fact that I’ve survived my own life….

As I’m writing this, the rain softly falls outside (I LOVE the rain) and, despite the fact that things look a bit desperate at the moment on so many levels and depression is sneaking random peeks at me (you know, those…”hello, I’m here if you want to wallow and feel sorry for yourself. Feel free to embrace me.”). Yes, it is very tempting; I wish I was the type of person to have a good sit-down, draw blankets over my head and cry my eyes out. I can’t….that would mean I’ve given up.

I believe that each of us in life has a calling, something we will discover if we follow the road that God has laid out for us. You can accept your life and travel that road with a smile, knowing it’s only a means to an end….your destiny, or you can give in to the troubles along the way, hide under a rock and never reach your destination….never fulfilling God’s plan.

Life is filled with trials and tribulations, but it is NOT what happens to us that make us who we are…it is how we deal with it.

Within the midst of suffering, of facing endless challenges, we are, like I am myself, tempted to despair, tempted even to blame God for everything, wondering where He is in times of strife….I know and freely admit, I’ve often lost my temper, shouted at God…He set me on this road, then where the hell is He!! Well, I’ve discovered something really remarkable….He has never left me at all!! He is that quiet voice that tells me all will be well in the end, that shadow in the corner of my eye, hovering, ever protective….He is the one who made me, He is the one who sent me, He is the one who would see to it that I make it.

People have complimented me profusely over the past few months. I’ve been called ”brave”, ”an inspiration”, ”a strong woman”….but you know what…this is wrong. I am NOT brave and strong and I definitely don’t qualify as an ”inspiration” to anyone. I want all to understand…..do NOT praise me, praise God for the way I’ve been dealing with my life. Through Him I have conquered an illness that would have taken my life, I survived only because He stepped and gave me a hand.

Therefore, today, I am filled with thanks to the Lord…thanks that I’ve had the honor of being challenged by Him, thanks that He helped me through a tough time…………in this I want to inspire. I want to inspire people to be thankful for each gift they receive, each breath they take, each person in their life they care for…..and every trouble they face, everything we have is a gift from above. Nothing we have or experience is to no avail…..everything is for the purpose, the destiny, the calling God has in mind for us. I know it hurts sometimes to be molded by God….He’s way is often NOT the nice, blissful experience we want….but be reassured, even through the hard times, the painful times, God will be at your side. He will give you wisdom if you trust and believe and in the end….in the end, you will see it all was a means by which He made you into something really special.

I have a treat for you today:

This morning I received an inspiring email from the team at Alive to God and I share it with you below. Please read it and see how important it is for us to be thankful for EVERYTHING we receive; how IMPORTANT IT IS TO SAY WE ARE THANKFUL.

*****************************************

Via Alive to God

Thankfulness is important to God. Thankfulness should be important to us.  Being thankful is important.  During the course of life we are exposed to many things.  The things that we pass through have the potential of affecting our lives. But it is often times, only as we look back, that we begin to realise what God has done and how wonderful the things were that He did.  When you look back on your life can you really be thankful?

God is looking for those people, who despite what they have been through have thankfulness and hearts full of thankfulness. There is a great song and the words are as follows: ‘How can I say thanks, for the things you have done for me. Things so undeserved yet you gave to prove your love for me. The voices of a million angels could not express my gratitude. All that I am and ever hope to be, I owe it all to Thee. To God be the Glory.’

***********************************

Next time, when you feel your sorrow and troubles are overwhelming you, give it all to Jesus…He who knows you, who made you. Trust Him to bring peace in your heart and life; He put you on the path, He understands your struggles and has a greater plan in mind for you. Be thankful that you have that purpose to look forward to…that destiny, because it will be worth every single problem in your life. I know it will get to be too much sometimes, I’ve been there….but if it gets you down, look up and reach out…He will catch you, because He has a purpose for you.

Stay blessed, friends. You are NEVER alone.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

I discovered the article below in Buzzfeed and decided to share it, so that all of my followers (and those that happen to find my little blog) can also GET the true perspective of OUR IMPORTANCE in the universe.

Of course we think that we are important! We do very serious things here on planet Earth…but within the scale of the universe, we are nothing at all. Just another planet…nothing more, nothing less.

Our world today is so filled with people who live inside a bubble of ever-expanding ego. Many of us are so obsessed with ourselves, our bodies, our ”beauty”, our VERY important jobs and the VERY special things we do for the community, that we forget….we actually live on a tiny grain of sand in an ENORMOUS, universe.

Not only does this perspective show us how very silly our pride in our own magnificence is, it also shows us just how little we understand the power of God. As a Christian I believe that God did indeed create the universe, whether he did it through the ”big bang” or whether He just snapped His fingers and it was there….point is, somehow He managed to create a vast space filled with billions upon billions of tiny little orbs, some small, some enormous, some with living things, some without (yes, I believe what Carl Sagan said….that if there weren’t life on other planets, it would SO be a waste of space). Out of ALL of these orbs, He chose Earth for His people.

A Being that has the power to create such a universe, must be powerful indeed. Yet, He still listens to our prayers… That and the mere fact that He decided this is the place for His people to live, THAT is something to be proud of.

2 Corinthians 10:17 -18 says: “But,  let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.” Also have a look at the image below (Jeremiah 9:24).

Jeremiah 9:24

We are here because of the Lord, not because we were so clever to be born on Earth… We are not here to satisfy our own needs, to walk around, puffed up, about our own appearance (which was a gift from Him anyway) or our own achievements….we should be THANKFUL to the One who created us, the one who made the world, made the universe….we should RESPECT HIS POWER.

Have a look at the article below, click on the link if you would prefer reading it on Buzzfeed and prepare to re-evaluate your thinking about your own significance, your own existence and the enormous power that created it all.

Here is your word for today:

Verse:       Psalm 23:4

‘Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me!’

– Darkness or dark valleys are no threat to God.
– No matter how great the darkness may be, He is always there.
– We may pass through dark valleys, but there is no need to fear.
– He will never let you down and He has victory in His hand.

PRAYER: Lord, thank You that I can know that no matter what I am facing, You are close beside me and I can rest in the knowledge that there is nothing to fear when You are near. Amen.
