“I heard a loud voice speaking from the throne: “Now God’s home is with human beings! He will live with them, and they shall be his people. God himself will be with them, and he will be their God. He will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death, no more grief or crying or pain. The old things have disappeared.”
Revelation 21:3‭-‬4 GNB

Yesterday we made a very difficult decision. One I was not entirely sure of, but one that I believe God wants us to make.

We’ve decided to give someone who hurt us terribly in the past another chance. This is, after all, what Jesus would do.

A few months ago I said that I would never give up on this person. I’ve hoped SO much that things would work out and that she would find joy, happiness and peace where she went. It was what she wanted, to live elsewhere and we made it happen because we love her so.

Now, again, we are doing God’s will. She’s been gone for 9 months, wandering, but now we’re going to welcome her home.

This is what Jesus taught us. Compassion, kindness, forgiveness.

I know people will criticize our choice, but I don’t really care. This feels right and, anyway, it’s nobody’s business but our own.

How can we expect God to allow our return after failing as Christians, but not show our fellow human the same courtesy? We commit sin over and over, yet He still forgives and loves us. We should do the same.

In asking God whether it was the right decision, He answered through His Word:

“You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you. And to all these qualities add love, which binds all things together in perfect unity. The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make; for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body. And be thankful.”
Colossians 3:12‭-‬15 GNB

All glory to God, may His will be done.

“…..He said to me, “These are the people who have come safely through the terrible persecution. They have washed their robes and made them white with the blood of the Lamb. That is why they stand before God’s throne and serve him day and night in his temple. He who sits on the throne will protect them with his presence. Never again will they hunger or thirst; neither sun nor any scorching heat will burn them, because the Lamb, who is in the centre of the throne, will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

“Do not lose your courage, then, because it brings with it a great reward. You need to be patient, in order to do the will of God and receive what he promises.”
Hebrews 10:35‭-‬36 GNB

Patience is a virtue, or so they say. We humans, though, we always want things done YESTERDAY. I know, I was like that until God sat me down and told me to wait for Him.

It did not come easily, I often faltered and failed miserably at this waiting game. I would pray desperately for things to come to a head in my life, fall into deep depression and cry until my head hurt. God let me bleed so that I could see the difference between surrendering to Him and carrying my burdens alone.

God used His Word to tell me: “Have courage, be patient, I’ll take that from you and I’m not going to leave you.” It does take courage to let go of our troubles. We rarely trust others to fix things just how we like it. Then I read this:
“Leave your troubles with the LORD , and he will defend you; he never lets honest people be defeated.”
Psalms 55:22 GNB

I had to surrender. I could not bear any more sorrow or cares. I realized without His help, I may never survive my trials. Surrendering all and waiting for God to do His will set me free.
Sometimes I still wonder at the peace in my heart.

I am forever grateful to the Almighty for carrying my burdens and for working out my path in life. I cannot fully explain this feeling of calm, this feeling that all will be well, because God is in charge of my life. My troubles are still hanging around, but now I can rest assured that it will be taken care of at some point.

It is a wonderful thing to trust God, the Creator of all things, with everything that bothers you.

Why don’t you try it some time?

“I am your God and will take care of you until you are old and your hair is grey. I made you and will care for you; I will give you help and rescue you.”
Isaiah 46:4 GNB

They sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to break open its seals. For you were killed, and by your sacrificial death you bought for God people from every tribe, language, nation, and race. You have made them a kingdom of priests to serve our God, and they shall rule on earth.”
Revelation 5:9‭-‬10 GNB
